Lola Douglas

Lola (great name!) has two books; True Confessions of a Hollywood Starlet and recently More Confessions of a Hollywood Starlet. Her latest book is a sequel involving Lola Douglas’s headstrong heroine Morgan who has a choice to make: return to her glamorous movie star existence- or stick with the wholesome life and the new love she's found in the Midwest. The TV movie adaptation of True Confessions of a Hollywood Starlet begins filming soon! Wow!

Envisage yourself as a butterfly, which colour would it be and why?
Pink, of course! It’s such a girly colour, and I am the ultimate girly girl (but in a good way)

Describe your writing style in one sentence
Fresh, funny, fast-paced

Without the naughty bits, describe your typical writing day
*laughing* there are no naughty bits to my typical writing day. it involves a lot of diet coke, internet procrastination, and finally the promise of chocolate to get me going.

1000 page literary masterpiece or glossy magazine?
Glossy mag, of course. I have yet to read a 1k page "literary masterpiece" that actually has enough to say to justify those 1k pages!

Frosted doughnuts or steamed carrots?
How about glazed carrots?

Describe your road to a publishing deal
I was very lucky in that I have a fabulous agent who believes in me. I came up with the idea for TRUE CONFESSIONS and he put me with the right editor, who fell in love with the idea and signed me fairly quickly. I know it doesn't usually happen this fast for most people, so I definitely feel like I had a fairy godmother watching over me.

If you hadn't become a writer, what would you be?
Oh, I don't know. An event planner? A personal shopper? So many jobs sound like fun, but that's what's great about writing - I can try them out through new books and characters!

One piece of advice to any aspiring authors…
Don't write about what you know, write about what you *want* to know. Curiosity is a writer's best friend. other than diet coke, chocolate, and a working laptop, that is.

Nice bod or large wallet?

I suppose if you had a large enough wallet you could purchase the nice bod. But I’m going for option #3: impressive *brain*.

And the best thing about being a writer is…? (Feel free to be totally fickle and materialistic here)
It sounds cheesy, but I love getting e-mails from readers. That honestly is my favourite part. To know they've read my words and feel entertained or informed or whatever - there's nothing like that feeling in the whole world! (Not even the unveiling of the new marc Jacobs’s couture collection!)

Thanx Lola (oh and great name!)
